Carla O’Bee was born in Vancouver and raised in Penticton, BC. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education with Art Specialization from the University of British Columbia. She currently lives in Penticton, BC with her husband Teddy and their two young children.
O’Bee is known for her pop art inspired paintings and muted color palettes. Her work is constructed through structure and rhythm, pulling inspirations from nature, interior design and mid-century motifs. The study of color relationships are frequently explored in her paintings and the viewers eye is pulled through the piece by repeating patterns, bold shapes and botanical elements.
O’Bee paints from her home studio and works as the Education and Programming Coordinator at the Penticton Art Gallery. She facilitates numerous art workshops throughout the year and also designs and crafts bronze jewelry.
